Yes: The earlier baby shots from 50 years ago were rather harsh and frequently produced high fevers and other reactions. They have nothing to do with the highly refined and produced flu vaccines now available.

help can babies still get shots at their 4 months checkup or is it too late?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Babies can start their primary series as soon as 6 weeks and as late as circumstances make them. The child is most vulnerable to some of the childhood diseases in early infancy, so any delay is risky, but a good immunity can be built at any point that the vaccines are started.

my baby got 6mth shots has 101.9 fever how often can i rotate infant tylenol (acetaminophen) and motrin. gave tylenol (acetaminophen) at 9:00 when is safe to give motrin?

3 PM. You can rotate: every 6 hrs.

Reading babies minds: If only i could read babies minds my job as pediatrician would be so much easier! obviously we are not absolutely certain as to why some babies cry more than other while receiving shots, however, by extrapolating from older children & adults, we know that some individuals seem to feel pain more intensely than others. Also, the exact site of the shot on the body can influence the degree of pain.

Minor: Fever, soreness at the injection site, and fussiness are the common side effects. The achiness and malaise reported by adults does not seem to occur. The side effects and potential risk of having the flu is much greater, including, sadly, death.

can an infant be around people who have not had a flu or t-dap shot?

Accepted Answer

Age and health?: Right now, with flu prevalent, i would not recommend a newborn be around those without a fle vaccine.  It is best for those who are routinely around the infant, particularly until the baby receives those first 3 sets of baby vaccines to have their tdap as well, as pertussis is sure making a comeback. If the baby is past 6 months and immunized, it is not as much of a big deal, but still recommended.

No harm : If the child is healthy , it  is probably not harmful although not needed

Yes: For a day or two.  Low grade fever is also common.

Accepted Answer

Very unlikely: Get a blood test confirming you have developed   anti-hep b surface antigen (antibody against hepatitis b surface antigen) and normal liver function.

Hard to say: Too early &amp; the immature immune system of an infant doesn't get as much response. Too late and you risk exposure &amp; infection. In the US the routine starts at 2 months, but six weeks is fine, based primarily on the need to get in and get it done when you can. I don't see much benefit in worrying about this specific. They need the full series over the first yr to be protected.
