No: Not isolated...No.  Swollen lymph glands ( lymphadenopathy) is a nonspecific finding associated with acute HIV acquisition...But requires more than 3 sites excluding inguinal.

Usually acid reflux: Most often it is due to acid reflux. The lingual tonsils can become swollen due to reaction to infection as well as allergic reactions.

Most likely: cause is recurrent infections.  Rarely, Hodgkin's disease or lymphoma can cause enlarged tonsils.  Have your doctor or ENT specialist look at it to be sure.

Not necessarily: The problem in kids comes when the tonsils grow faster than they do, between birth &amp; 8, with recurrent infections and sleep apnea making the removal common. If you are an adult, it might help sleep apnea, if present, but would not end throat infections. There is always tissue left behind that can be invaded by strep/viruses.A consultation with an ENT could clear this up.

Remove them if they bother you: A biopsy may not show and underlining cancer. Most likely the tonsils are enlarged but the nine without cancer or lymphoma. The only way to know is to remove both tonsils completely especially if they are bother to you or cause infection. If they do not bother you it is reasonable to watch them to leave them alone if you do not want to undergo a fairly significant troubles of this kind of surgery in an adult.

Tonsil lesion: It could be a small blood blister, could be a dilated blood vessel on the tonsil, called a varicocele, which is a normal variant. Sometimes you notice things that have been there because your attention is drawn there, in your case due to sore throat. Doesn't sound concerning to me, but you should see an ENT doctor to check it out.

29/m. i have b/l inf. turbinate mild hypertrophy on ct-pns; sinuses are clear. i use fexofenadine/pseudoephedrine & steroid n/spray daily, sleeps comfortably but still wake up with dry mouth, brain fog & excessive yawning all day. is it sleep apnea?

Possibly: Drink fluids, avoid triggers such as dust and mold.
