What causes hypertrophied lingual tonsils other than gerd and infections? it is more prevalent on the left side, almost non-existant on the right one.

Most likely: cause is recurrent infections. Rarely, Hodgkin's disease or lymphoma can cause enlarged tonsils. Have your doctor or ENT specialist look at it to be sure.
