i have had 2 abnormal pap with ascus hpv positive e6/e7(may 2019 and may 2020). i havent had sex since the diagnosis but i just started dating someone and i want to make sure i am safe. what should i do? i did receive the vaccine as a teen. 25 now?

Protection: There really are only 2 ways you can be assured you are not passing on  the HPV to someone - abstinence or use of a condom. There is no good way to know if you are actively shedding virus, as most people are asymptomatic with the virus.  Use a condom for optimal reassurance.

regular paps all normal.  jan 2014 ascus. april 2014 normal. oct 2014 ascus. feb 2015 ascus and positive hpv.  (first hpv) how likely is this cancer??

It is not cancer: It is pre-cancer all you have to do is follow up with those ascus reports with a biopsy to see how bad the dysplasia is. If it's high-grade dysplasia and you'll need to have a small portion of your cervix removed this is very common. This will cure your HPV in many cases. The chance of getting squamous cell carcinoma if you follow up our almost 0 please follow up.

my recent pap smear shows ascus + hpv high risk positive. my last test was done in may 2021 which showed normal and negative hpv. i have scheduled a colposcopy next month but how possible i would have a result >= cin3? i am very nervous and worried?

: Nobody can predict that which is the exact reason why colposcopy needs to be done. You should not worry too much because the condition is treatable so just patiently wait for the procedure next month. Good luck.

Possible precancer: HPV18 is one of the high risk HPV subtypes and coupled with a PAP smear dx of ASCUS, it is likely that the biopsy will show squamous intraepithelial lesion or dysplasia which means a precancerous lesion, either low or high grade. Biopsy an follow up should ensure that it may never become invasive cancer.

Recommend: a colposcope exam of the cervix to look with a 10x magnification of cervix, for potential pre cancerous cells that can be treated to prevent cervical cancer.

i've had positive hrhpv and ascus/lsil in my pap smear before. in recent years, hpv has been negative, but i repeatedly getting reports saying either inadequate sample or absent ec/tz components. i am not pregnant, why can't i get a proper sample?

: With a prior positive "high risk" HPV result, with ASCUS, a colposcopy with directed biopsies may be necessary.  Consult with your GYN physician or secure a referral to another GYN physician for a "second opinion".

ascus- negative hpv reflex test- partially obscuring inflammatory exudate- never had positive hpv or abnormal pap before for over 20 years. can a yeast infection cause this? follow up one year. high anxiety ,cant sleep so scared of cancer?

: If it was cancer or pre-cancer the test would say so. The wording indicates there was inflammation, the type of common findings seen with a vaginitis/cervicitis caused by any one of a number of common germs including yeast. If they indicated follow-up in a year it means they were not concerned about the finding and you should not either. Please open a dialog with the doc on this point.

?: Are you talking about a result, or an order form?  If her pap is minimally abnormal (ascus) they sometimes order an hpv test automatically, to see if that is the cause.

HPV test done if ASC: This means that if a person has a pap test result of asc-us (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance), then the lab will perform a high risk hpv dna test.  If the dna test is negative, then the "atypia" is less likely caused by an hpv infection.  If the dna test is positive, then the "atypia" is more likely caused by an hpv infection. Ascus: Its Ok but get a HPV next time. ASCUS with negative HPV is not a big concern ASCUS with positive HPV likely requires colposcopy.
