i have problem in upper eyelid which has swollen and no pain. what is the root cause and treatment to cure that. ?

Many possibilities: Swelling without pain can be from many causes - tumor, allergic reaction, blocked eyelid gland, inflammation, infection.  If it does not go away in a day or two, see an ophthalmologist.

for a couple weeks now i've been feeling a object that feels like a sand grain under my upper eyelid near the corner of my eye by my nose. any idea what it could be? it hasn't caused any irritation?

: This can be a corneal abrasion. See an eye doctor.

after running outside, my right upper eyelid is extremely swollen - what causes this?

Accepted Answer

Unusual symptom: Anything extreme should be checked asap to determine the cause, especially if it is also painful, as this could be sign of an infection. Also possible is an insect bite. Allergy would most likely affect both eyes. It is hard to say what specifically about running would cause this to happen, and it might be coincidental. If this is a repetitive problem definitely get an exam.

Possible allergy: Painless swelling of the lids without redness is probably an allergic response to something you have come in contact with.  You could try an   antihistamine, like claritin (loratadine).  If there is redness and/or pain, you need to see an ophthalmologist.

i have what i believe to be a stye on my upper eyelid. i first noticed it last night around 9:00. it's a little red and swollen, but i cannot see a pi?

Heat treatment: Use a warm wet washcloth held under the very hot but not scalding tap in your kitchen.  Put it over the lid on the affected side (really both lids as yours eyes should be shut) and do this about 5 times per day and 5 minutes each time.  This almost always will eliminate a stye.  Antibiotics and things at drug stores like "Stye ointment" will have no effect.

reoccurring stye on my left upper eyelid for ~1 yr? ill go a few weeks without anything and then itll come back, or itll get a bit swollen for a couple days, go away on its own, come back worse a few days later. what could be causing it?

: A stye, or chalazion, is a blockage or infection in one or more of the oil glands of the eyelid (Meibomian gland). These glands open near the margin of the lid. It is possible that some scarring has occurred leading to repeated obstructions or infections. It can be treated by an ophthalmologist either medically or surgically, usually in the office.

See your doctor: This is a problem that requires a face-to-face meeting with your doctor.  In that meeting, your doctor will listen to you, perform a throrough examination and possibly order labs or other tests. Based on this information, he/she will be able to tell you what's wrong and what to do about it.

Probably sty: If your upper eyelid has a red pimple like pustule with surrounding redness and pain, it probably is a sty (see picture). If not see an Eye MD. Try moderately hot compresses 4-6 times /day for several days to decompress the pustule and ease the swelling. If this resolve the problem, then it was likely a sty. Good luck.

wat causes stye under the upper eyelid n what is the treatment?

Warm compress: A sty is a moderately inflamed "sweat duct" in the eyelid.  The ducts get blocked.   I  tell my patients to get a damp wash cloth and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds.   Test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot.   Place warm compress the closed eyelid for about5-10 minutes and re-heating as necessary.  If it does not get better in a week or gets worse go to your eye doctor.

i've woken up with my upper eyelid swollen and very tender to touch. what could this be?

Accepted Answer

Infection or allergy: A swollen upper eye lid could be either a simple stye or a more serious infection, particularly if it is red.
Swollen eye lids can be  caused by allergies also. Allergies are more likely to be itchy.
If this doesn't settle down quickly you will need to see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment as you may need antibiotics for infection
