Infection or allergy: A swollen upper eye lid could be either a simple stye or a more serious infection, particularly if it is red. Swollen eye lids can be caused by allergies also. Allergies are more likely to be itchy. If this doesn't settle down quickly you will need to see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment as you may need antibiotics for infection

Warm compress : Probable chalazion. Put warm wet towel on for 10 minutes 4 times a day. If not better in 1-2 days or you develop a fever, visit ophthalmologist. Chalazion is a blocked gland of the eyelid. The warm compress usually melts away the blockage.
