i currently have 5 blood clots on my legs,

it is slightly warm, swollen and painful when i touch it or sometimes just when i am walking.

do you recommend that i should book an appointment and is it serious?

Doctor can examine: Sounds like one is asking about blood clots in the skin on the legs. Normal people do not get blood clots in the skin without a reason, so this is something that needs a doctor's evaluation. If there is swelling in a leg, and one suspects a blood clot deeper in the leg, that would be an emergency and one would need to be evaluated in the ER.

can methadone cause blood clots and or swelling and pain in leg. had blood clot a few months ago.. went away. years ago told my left side had circulation problems. more lower left leg swollen painful can't move it. must pain right under knee

A : A swollen leg with a history of blood clots is a worrisome combination.  You could very well have another clot, and blood clots in the legs can lead to bad complications.  You need to be examined for this and have an ultrasound study.

Do you have a history of injecting IV drugs into the veins in your legs?  That's a great way to damage the veins and put you at risk for leg swelling and/or blood clots.

i took a flight last thursday to johannesburg from durban. since the flight the top of my left leg has been painful and my legs feel very heavy. should i be concerned? is there a risk of blood clots or deep vein thrombosis? i had covid-19 in july

Be concerned: Leg swelling or pain after sitting for a long  airplane or car trip is always a cause for concern. I would go to an ER to have yourself evaluated because you may need an ultrasound of your legs and most doctors don't have that available in their office. Good luck.

have a history of blood clots in arm,leg,and pulmonary embolism.  last night i had a blood draw, today huge hematoma that is painful. possible clot?

No: A hematoma occurs when blood leaks out of the blood vessel that was punctured. There is a pool of blood in the adjacent tissues and, since blood is irritating, it hurts. Because of your hx, I'm guessing you might be on an anticoagulant ("blood thinner")? If so, it predisposes you to a hematoma. Hematomas hurt but get better on their own. There's no risk of the clot "traveling" anywhere.

If left leg: is the swollen one, then you need further evaluation of your iliac vein for compression from overlying arteries. This is called May Thurner Syndrome. Further info at sir web.org. Also doctor finder if you need a referral to an interventional radiologist.

Blood clot: If a lump is evident in or on a vein, a blood clot would be a possibility. It can fragment and travel through the vein upwards toward the lungs. Blood clot in a superficial vein tends not to travel or embolize. It would not move side to side. Since you're quite concerned, you should be examined by a physician to check for phlebitis.

- long periods of sitting
- prolonged bed rest
- inherited clotting diseases
- any kind of injury or trauma
- cancer
- smoking
- obesity or overweight
- family history of blood clots
- blood draws or catheters in veins, including pacemakers
- birth control pills
- congestive heart failure
- ibd.

Check with your MD: Generally yes, but each patient should get clearance from the treating physician.  It depends on a few things-- how long the clots have been treated, how large the clots are, where they are located, and what your other medical problems are.
