Prevention: 1. Use a baby carrier i.E there's all sorts of models available for front and back
2. If you need to carry the baby, use one hand to support the other so all the force is not on the elbow i.E biceps
3. Consider limited course of anti inflammatories assuming no contraindications.

Not really: However pain from the wrist may radiate proximally if the radial sensory nerve which crosses the area of tendon that gets sequent aims is also irritated . Make sure the splint does not irritate the nerve  or the boney prominsnce as rigid splints can  do this and at times the splint is worse than the original problem.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Full thickness tears are completely thorough the tendon. I would suspect additional injury. This should be repaired surgically. See an orthopedist

Is it acute?: If is acute, we starting with modalities only , and then with stretching and therapeutic exercises , always with the therapist and under doctors supervision!

??: ? Proximal or distal in any event you are quite young for this sort of thing but it is not unheard of in your age group
if it is proximal then a tenodesis of the tendon to the upper humerus is usually helpful.

Movement pain: Biceps tendinitis would be painful if compressed at site and will worsen with muscle use. Whiplash induced radiculopathy or injury to the brachial plexus would be a constant pain, even in rest

my tendonitis on my biceps and rotator cuff won't disappear despite depomedrol (methylprednisolone) injection. mri says no nerve impingement. what are other remedies?

PT or surgery: Long head of the biceps tendonitis and rotator cuff pain often occur together. Steroid injections can make the symptoms less but rarely cure the problem which is usually treated with physical therapy 2-3x/week for several months. If improvement is not acheived  often arthroscopic surgery is necessary

is electro stimulation therapy appropriate for bicep tendonitis?

Accepted Answer

It depends: Electric stimulation has been used for over 100 years.  These days you have units that use either milliamps or microamps.  There are now very sophisticated microcurrent machines in use by physicians, chiropractors, pts and athletic trainers.  I think they are the most effective.  Find a frequency specific microcurrent provider who has a machine w/ many settings including ones just for tendons.

Unhappy Tendon: The long head of the biceps passes through a tunnel into the shoulder. Anything that make the tunnel smaller or tendon bigger, ie swelling from an impact, can make the tendon rub. It stays swollen, it frays, it hurts.
Probably not a cause for instability.

do you treat shoulder bursitis and bicep tendonitis?

Accepted Answer

Exercises: First line of treatment is rest, any inflammatories, and an exercise program that includes cuff strengthen, shoulder blade coordination, and stretches.  Most people get better with this program.
