2yr old grandson might have swollowed a penny 4 days agp. he is puking, last night and this morn. have not seen penny in bm.  also been on antibios?

Family practice : He should get an x-ray to see if he passed it. May need to follow , if he doesn't pass it may need extraction.

what to do if uri is antibioic resistant? herbs?

Viral illness: Since most uris are caused by viruses, not bacteria, they are inherently antibiotic-resistant.  Treatment is focused on reducing symptoms. If you find an herb that does that, feel fre to use it.

can i drink alocohol while on antibioics (minocycline)?

Accepted Answer

Yes: No problem taking tetracycline class antibiotics with alcohol but keep it in moderation.  If you have a significant infection it would be best to abstain until the infection has resolved.

if i have recurrent insterstitial cystitis, is it a big deal if i can't see a dr for another wk?  they usually give antibios

No: Depends on how bad your symptoms are.

Why didn't Dr advise: You need to give weight-based, children's tylenol (acetaminophen) or children's Ibuprofen to help reduce discomfort and fever. If not controlled / if concerns, take to pediatrician / urgent care.

age 44, had c diff 3 yrs ago. now must take antibio (doxy) for 2 wks. just took a wk of prednsione, too. am i likely to get c diff again?

C diff: Depending on your full history &amp; immune status, C diff can occur with many antibiotics but less common with Doxy unless that is what caused it before. How is your immune system &amp; diet? This determines chance. Treatment of C. difficile colitis=with antibiotics, primarily vancomycin and metronidazole. Up to 10% of patients do not respond to a course of one of the antibiotics and require retreatment

wound on lower shin care. to cover or not? has been covered for 7 days. now it is infected. started topical antibio tonight, waiting for culture.

Keep covered: I do not know what you were covering it with, but I would keep it covered when you are active.  You probably can take the bandage off when you are at rest if you want to. The topical antibiotic may help, but I find shin infections ususally need something oral.

is it necessary to finish antibiotx that didn't help treat infctn b4 changing it?daughter is in 5th day, no improvements gp wants to finish b4 a new one

Confusing question: Depending on the type of infection I am treating, i may want to give a antibiotic a few extra days to see if it will eventually work.Once infection is established, it does take time to build up a kill level of antibiotic  in the body to attack the germ. If it is obvious it is not working, i stop it and try something different.

i had epdidimytis pain & discomfort was their that i could not sleep as well after antibio pain was gone only mild discomfort is there at top of testi its been 4 5 months when i had epididmytis usually pain comes after few hours whenever i mastrubate?

: In my experience I have noted that the epididymus does not liked to be messed with and some patients I've seen who have had epididymitis have chronic or persistent tenderness through the years. Your urologist can examine you and advise you further.

Confusing question: Some std 's are treated with antibiotics, some  are not.  There are more than a dozen illness that can be passed during sex, some are treatable and some not, but all have treatments that limit the long term consequences.
