Sprain?: If you can continue to weight bear without much pain, the chances are it is a simple sprain. However inflammation sets in about 6-12 hrs post injury and if you find that you are not able to put weight on it at any stage, see a Dr. You may need an X Ray to rule out an avulsion fracture, which is when a tiny flake of bone can get pulled off with the ligament during a sprain as well

Not unusual: Main trauma prob occurred in this area.  Just took little while for bruise to develop.  Rest and take some antinflammatory medication.  If symptoms continue X-ray may be helpful.  Make sure no hairline fracture

i have pain on the outside of my foot by my ankle, but no bruising and no swelling. it hurts when i walk, haven't tried running. any ideas?

Pain in foot/.ankle: I assume you are a runner?  Several things come to mind.  Stress fracture of the 5th mt, tendonitis of the peroneus tendons, bony contusion to 5th MT (outside bone in foot).  Try icing 20-30min on then 20-30 min off and OTC dose of anti-inflamatory liek advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) per label directions(provided there is no reason for you NOT to take them) No running. If no better 10-14 days see doc.

3 year old is limping. there is no bruising/swelling on his foot/ankle. it hurts on the bottom. also has 100.3 fever, cough and running nose. related?

Possibly related: It is possible that all the symptoms are related.
However, with no apparent injury, I would suggest having your child evaluated by his DR.

This may be secondary to a viral condition, but is concerning enough to warrant a full evaluation.

Bruises can occur: in the legs without very much of an injury/without remembering what the injury was. They generally get better within a few days. Hot water bottle can speed resorption of blood.

Yes: You at least need to have an x-ray to make sure that youdo not have a fracture.

After excised the-: -nerve can still form a neuroma,which can be large enough to cause pain as you described. Some people form neuromas more than others. Usually these are always present due to the way nerves heal when they are cut. It is usually located proximal to the weight bearing metatarsal heads and cause no problems, but sounds like you are one of the unlucky ones.

my son was running about a week ago and he felt a stinging pain in his leg. a "bruise" developed after that with blue veins around it. im not sure if it's a normal bruise or a blood clot. he says that it feels different and sore.

Bee sting?: If there is a stinger in the area, please see your PCP for removal, apply a cold pack and watch for signs of infection such as pus, swelling and redness.

Find the cause: Are boots, shoes irritating them? Do you take a blood thinner (including aspirin) regularly? Do you have a lot of varicose veins? Answering these questions with your doctor may help.
