does the doctor or anesthesiologist tell you which medicines or vitamins to stop before your surgery?

Yes : The surgeon or the anesthesiologist will discuss with you which medications you should take or discontinue.  Usually blood pressure medications should be continued, diabetic medications stopped or lower the dose, and supplements are stopped.  Aspirin and NSAID usage needs to be tailored to your condition and surgery.  Many herbal supplement may effect bleeding and or anesthetic medications.

doc and anesthesiologist were aware of loose tooth. tooth was cracked during procedure. what now? do docs have insurance for this?

Known Risk: You would have signed "informed consent" forms before having the procedure and that releases both from any liability for the damage that occurred. Everything comes with a risk and unless the docs were negligent in their treatment (unlikely) then you will have to pay to repair the damaged tooth yourself - it is unfortunate it occurred but even you admitted you knew the tooth had an issue.

during a colonoscopy, does the anesthesiologist constantly monitor vital signs?  i sometimes have a bp of 140/90 acc. to my primary doctor.  safe?

Yes: We do constantly monitor vital signs during colonoscopy.  Also, even though your blood pressure is borderline high, you should be fine during the procedure.  Peace of cake usually.  You'll have an opportunity to talk to the professional anesthetist before the procedure as well.

Ask urologist: Your urologist may be able to treat your pain as he can best diagnosis it, usually.  Ask him and see who he would refer you to, if not.

Evaluation: If your treatment for asthma and gastroparesis is optimized and you feel fine and nothing can be done to improve both conditions you do not need to see pcp. If your asthma is acting up you need optimization before the surgery.

Totally different: Both very rewarding, but different. PT will be patient tx ,teaching,administration. PA will be same, but many different specialties to choose from. You must talk with people doing each, try to "shadow" them at workplace. Visit the schools as prospective student, and to see what the teaching is about. Check online for salary and job availability and satisfaction with job. Check need for masters/PhD

Yes, but worth it: Anesthesiologists are physicians who care for patients during surgery and other procedures. This involves selecting the best meds for anesthesia for each patient, and treating any other medical problems such as diseases of the heart, lungs, diabetes, high blood pressure etc. It can be very challenging with long days in the operating room and emergency call, but very satisfying too! i love my work.
