NOT Ambien!: Ambien (zolpidem) is a SLEEPING pill and a possibly dangerous one at that! Sometimes its DRYNESS due to the heat coming up during this time of the year. Try a HUMDIFIER!
Long acting ant-histamines (OTC eg ZYRTEC) may help!

23 old male, 6"2' , 150lbs, no allergies. seem naturally very tolerant to combining  lunesta (eszopiclone) 3mg, ambien 5mg, and vistaril 100mg to sleep. suggestions?

Stop the meds: Lunesta/ambien and vistaril not working?  You need to wean off these meds and see a sleep specialist.   You can try Restoril (temazepam) or trazadone or neurontin, but i doubt it.  You should consider seroquel or zyprexa as you may have bipolar disorder, esp if you cannot shut your mind off at night.

Cause for insomnia?: Referral (possibly to psychiatrist) for thorough evaluation of your insomnia might be the smartest request you could make.  It's better than asking for more medicines when it's not clear "why" you're having this problem.  If you're still taking vyvanse (as on your other info), this may be related.  Ambien (zolpidem) can indeed result in feeling "weird" -- also doing odd things at night after taking it.

Could be either : Actually, it could be either of the reasons you listed.  First, Ambien (zolpidem) should work for ~6-7 hours.  That said, If you've been taking Ambien (zolpidem) for awhile, talk to your doctor about the possibility of rotating medications.  This usually helps to reduce tolerance. Also, remember to take Ambien (zolpidem) on an empty stomach - as food decreases absorption of the drug.  Hope that helps!

Not equivalent: Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that causes drowsiness by blocking histamine receptors. Usual doses are 25-50 mg. Ambien (zolpidem) is what is called a non benzodiazepine hypnotic, it cause drowsiness by binding to the Alpha subunit of the benzodiazepine receptor. Usual dosing is 5-10 mg. As their mechanism of action is completely different, there is no dose equivalency.
