Cause for insomnia?: Referral (possibly to psychiatrist) for thorough evaluation of your insomnia might be the smartest request you could make. It's better than asking for more medicines when it's not clear "why" you're having this problem. If you're still taking vyvanse (as on your other info), this may be related. Ambien (zolpidem) can indeed result in feeling "weird" -- also doing odd things at night after taking it.

You may need a sleep study to determine what treatments will help. Have a complete physical exam to know if this is caused by illness. If not please see a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in multiple types of psychotherapy for help. Medications should be managed by a Psychiatrist. If you are not confident in your Psychiatrist please see another for a second opinion.
