: You are not able to control the types of protein formed by the body which is mainly by the liver. You have not given enough information as to if you have any ongoing disease process. When there is ongoing disease in the body there could be stimulation of chemicals and production of abnormal amount of certain proteins. The underlying disease has to be determined by evaluation for management.

Mom and/or dad can carry the mutations. A child can inherit a mutation from mom, from dad, or from both mom and dad.

Emphysema: Individuals with anti Alpha 1 deficiency are more prone to the environmental oxidative factors such as polution, smoking, etc therefore they get emphysema eventually especially if they smoke. Logically these individuals could get lung/liver damage if take medications which are inceasing oxidative status.

i had severe pain of 5mm stone stuck on ureter opening..my uro.give me alpha blocker tablets..from past seven dqys i had no pain..only some on one side of my back..so is my stone passed or not?..can i again get the same pain in future??after months?

: If it did not pass or, if you make more, they may get stuck. Has it passed? i have patients strain urine to catch stone for analysis.  Then best preventative Rx can be chosen. Can repeat X-ray. NO: Assuming that "alpha one lung disease" that you mentioned is alpha-one antitrypsin deficiency (a1at), then all forms of smoking should be avoided. This is because (depending on your phenotype) a1at disease will usually cause progressive lung damage & emphysema over time. Smoking can worsen your lung disease & hasten the progression of the emphysematous changes.
