It sounds like you: have a phlebitis or inflammation around the needle stick. It could be infected. You should get it checked out. It might just be red and hard and go away with hot packs which you can start now by placing a warm compress over it a few times a day. The hardness can last for a while but it should not be red and hurt so much. Get it checked.

Likely from a: Bruised vein and blood that oozed out from the vein causing swelling or hematoma. U may apply warm packs and take tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomfort. Don't worry , be happy!

i always get arm pain after iv or blood test sometimes bruise regardless of where the needle was. should i be concerned?

It depends: Whether you should be concerned depends on how big the bruise is and whether you have any problems with your blood clotting factors. If you are worried you could get your blood checked to make sure you don't have a problem that would you have a tendency towards bleeding easily.

Rapid HIV testing: Yes.  But, remember like the other routine HIV antibody tests, the window of certainty is three to six months after the exposure.  If you have a high risk exposure there is other testing that is more accurate early on. In fact accurate from 21 days post exposure.

i had a blood test a few weeks ago and since then i have experienced a dead arm feeling, pins and needles, and now sore fingers. should i be worried?

Not necessarily: Feeling pins and needles in the arm can be due to many different causes with the most likely being some compression of the nerves in the shoulder or arm from putting pressure onto the shoulder, elbow, or wrist. The procedure of having a blood test by itself should not cause these symptoms. If your symptoms continue and are not being relieved then please see a neurologist for a full neuro exam.

Needle phobia: It's possible to recover from needle phobia through cognitive behavioral therapy with a skilled psychologist.  Drawing blood from your leg could be done, but may be more complicated for you.  I suggest consulting a psychologist so you can overcome your fear rather than giving in to it.

Any : Any time a patient has penetration of the skin, there can be risk of infection or other problems.  When a needle penetrates the skin, bacteria can be disrupted, causing infection.  Bleeding and bruising can also occur, making the skin appear darker red.  If a patient has redness or concerns of infection then they should be evaluated for possible infection.  It would be reasonable for a patient in that circumstance to call the doctors office who performed the test and inform them of the issue.

: The needle likely hit a nearby nerve ending on its way to the vein and triggered that response. Your body will self heal over time but it can be sensitive for a while. A cool compress over the area when it acts up will decrease the sensitivity.

Positional: When you place your arms and legs lower than your heart, they fill and become prominent. When they're above your heart, they collapse and appears as "streaks." Also, when you're well tanned, they're less visible. AS your tan fades, you see them better. Darker veins are NOT a sign of disease!

i'm 22 years old and i had xray n blood test everything is normal but i still have nodule in underarm and sumtimes i have pain in it n in full arm?

?infected node: Did you get a course of antibiotics?if not you should.if it is still significant you may need a biopsy
