Probably not: Sometimesstraing like coughing, sneezing or straining can cause red spote. Of corse if this is after being out in the wind or gardening it represent a foreign body on the surface. If she is taking blood thinners this can be serious if iy is spontaneous. If in doubt seek evaluation.

Vaseline: Try putting vaseline on it for a week.  If this does not make it go away, see an ophthalmologist.

Hemorrhage : Your white of your eye likely has a small hemorrhage from the mild eye trauma from pinching the contact lens. It's self limited &amp; usually resolves in a week. The pain should resolve soon. Your eye may feel slight irritated though. Try frequent artificial tears (4-6 times). If your symptoms worsen with any change in vision, seek attention by your eye MD.

Likely a bruise: By your history, you likely have a bruise of the white part of your eye, which is actually a thin semitransparent membrane with blood vessels surrounding your eyeball. It's elastic so that while rubbing your eyelids the delicate blood vessels may break and cause a hemorrhage (bruise) which appears bright red. This is usually benign &amp; resolves in 1-2 weeks. Red spot on eye: Generally red spots on the white of the eye are small hemorrhages that tend to occur during birth or with strong coughing or occasionally vomiting. They are painless and of no concern but should go away within 2 weeks or so.

Skin infection?: Did you get bit or stung by a bug? Does it itch? Did you have a pimple there?  A red area if warm, painful and spreading could be do a skin infection (called cellulitis).  If it itches, this is less likely and maybe due to a bite or a reaction to a soap or lotion.  If it is a skin infection and it spreads rapidly this is serious and you need to get seen at an ED especially if you have a fever
