Skin infection?: Did you get bit or stung by a bug? Does it itch? Did you have a pimple there? A red area if warm, painful and spreading could be do a skin infection (called cellulitis). If it itches, this is less likely and maybe due to a bite or a reaction to a soap or lotion. If it is a skin infection and it spreads rapidly this is serious and you need to get seen at an ED especially if you have a fever
