i had a displaced bimalleolar fracture over a year ago that needed surgery to place 2 plates and i went on to develop crps. is it possible for a fracture like this to cause a very visible deformity of the ankle,without their being a full dislocation?

: There are mani things affecting healing of such fractures- bone alignment, degree of damage, any complications etc. pl ask surgeon for explanation. If not happy get another opinion. Wish you the best

One step at a time : Ankle ligaments heal slowly. A two-year lingering pain is a chronic issue. See your local area podiatrists consider cotisone injection, x-rays physical therapy including heat versus ice.  Other types of physical therapy as well. Without improvement then pursue an mri. An exam is necessary, if the site is swollen and painful consider MRI right away.

Probably: Excessive ankle motion after a brostrom procedure can cause significant pain and swelling.  I recommend you follow up with your surgeon to make sure your recovery is going as planned.

Biomechanics : Your problem is one of alignment or lack of proper alignment. These are considered “overuse  injuries” .   I would visit a podiatrist or a
 Physical therapists knowledgeable in biomechanics. Shoes, shoe inserts and custom orthotics are used in this situation.  You are young and still developing. Not uncommon to see.

Degeneration : The hardware may be shifting and causing pain. Even though the joint is fused degenerative changes can lead to inflammation thus leading to pain

i had 3 pins removed from ankle because were causing pain.  problem is its been 7 wks out of surgery  i hurt worse and cant walk. therapy not helping?

Follow up.: Let your orthopedic surgeon know of your worsening condition.  The surgeon will be able to establish what's going on, and how he can help.  Those complaints would merit from a workup that could include x-ray imaging.
