hello. are simple ovarian cysts usually cancer, i have a 5 cm simple cyst. its filled with fluid?

: No, that would be exceedingly unusual. By definition, a cyst is filled with fluid and a simple cyst has no features that make it suspicious. Cysts come and go normally with your cycles and typically represent eggs at some stage towards ovulation. If a simple cyst persists over several cycles, continues to grow, or becomes symptomatic , it might need further management but cancer is still unlikely.

2nd time in 3 months an u/s has shown bilateral  ovarian cysts. but i thought only one ovary ovulates each month? r ovary hurts, cyst is 1cm.

Bilateral cysts: A one cm ovarian cyst is quite small and in the process of ovulation production both ovaries are stimulated and cysts sometimes forms. You are correct that ovaries generally alternate ovulation, but unless you have PCOS most cysts are benign and unilateral.

i know i have an ovarian cyst either ruptured or forming? should i go to the drs to get an u/s just in caseor just leave it because i know what it is?

: I can't think of a medical reason that drinking socially would have any effect on or be worrisome for someone with this condition.

Accepted Answer

No: Simple ovarian cysts are usually benign (not cancer) in a woman in her early 30s.    If they become large or painful, they can be removed with laparoscopic surgery but frequently go away on their own.

Yes it can: Complex cysts can be cancerous depending on their size and rate of growth. A CA125 test can help decide its nature. Ultrasound is a good test to measure increase in size and also may show any solid components inside the cyst. You should get the ultrasound repeated in 3-4 months and have your gynecologist guide you further. You may need surgical removal if it is causing you much pain or increased s

Generally none.: Ovarian cysts are generally non-infectious in origin and mostly filled with with fluid and or blood. Antibiotics do not have a role in treating them, unless there was an identified infectious cause (tubo-ovarian abscess).

u/s report from two years ago said 1cm para ovarian cyst. i've since had a baby and nobody has ever mentioned seeing it on u/s. did it go away?

Probably: This is a very small cyst.  In all likelihood it did go away.  If you are concerned, you can discuss with your provider.

Can not predict: WE can not predict how an individual cyst will behave over time. The most likely scenario is that a small ovarian cyst like this will resolve on its own over time. Follow up monitoring by your obgyn should be done

how does duphaston work to break down a follicular ovarian cyst? how will i know if the cyst is getting smaller. will i bleed? follow up u/s in 3 week

It doesn't: Duphaston is a progestin hormone, and is used to bring on a period in someone not ovulating or to prevent overgrowth of the uterine lining. It has also been used to treat endometriosis. Follicle cysts usually resolve over time. If it does not go away, it may need to be removed laparoscopically.
