Acupuncture point: One of the points that is commonly used is the li4 point; which is on the large intestine principal meridian.  Your acupuncturist will be familiar with the location of this point. This should not be needled in pregnant women. There are other points used that can be reviewed with your acupuncturist.

Diagnosis: In order to treat your pain  definitively  you need to see the dentist to make an accurate diagnosis. Once you have a diagnosis they may recommend what type of treatment is needed to relieve you pain. For short term discomfort if you have no contraindications, Ibuprofen may be helpful.

OTC and DDS!: Take some otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you would normally take for a headache and see your dentist asap to find the cause and treat it.

OTC med/see dentist: While otc meds may get you by, toothache usually means that there is something wrong with your teeth/gums.  Only your dentist can take care of the problem and possibly prescribe stronger meds.  Do not delay because. Dental problems get worse over time.
