fever on and off for 2 months. normal sometimes and raises with minimal activity. my norma temperature is 97-98 but its been going to 100. drs wont listen. what can be the cause?

Specialist: Get an " opinion from a specialist in infectious diseases. Appropriate testing will be done. If no pathology is found, at least you will be more reassured.

my adult child has severe depression and lives out of state.  what can i do to help other than encourage her to get help and listen when needed?

ask her: You can ask her this question; and request her permission to contact her friends or other relatives in her area who could actually check; if it was impossible for you to do this. Sometimes kids (even grown ups) need their parents with them. A visit to a general dr might help her too for many reasons; and she might be more willing to. Good luck.

hi doctors. what would you say are healthy and less than healthy activities to do and to not do before going to bed? is going on the computer a good or not good idea? watching television? reading? listening to music? watching videos?

: It has been widely documented that any screen time within 2 hours of bed, can cause disruptions in sleep. the only exception to this is the Kindle/Nook/Kobo/etc ebooks which use a different kind of screen technology. The underlying problem with screens (TV, Ipad/tablet, computer, etc) is that they emit blue light in a specific wavelegth that disrupts the brains sleep/wake cycles. Music is OK.

Panic: Most people who experience panic attacks are hypersensitive to sensations/activities/food & drinks that mimic panic sensations such as hot showers, caffeine, vigorous exercise etc. This is more symptomatic of anxiety and panic, not depression. Cognitive behavioral therapy is meant to break the association between thoughts, panic (fear response),  and physical sensations that we all experience.

"Time Out" time: Your daughter is expressing her frustrations by biting and not listening.  It's time to institute "timeout" even if its applied for a very short time.

Very bad: That's why older people shudder at loud car stereos. They know the young people in those cars are destroying their hearing. If they are lucky hearing aids may help them later in their lives.

Don't interrupt: Listening is a skill. Being able to hear what the other person is saying without interrupting or trying to fix things. Give feedback...When someone says something..Reflect. "this is what i heard you say" so that you stay on the same page. Ask questions to get more info. Be sincere and honest and caring. Ask if this person wants help or jus to vent. Ask what they need form you...
