It : It is difficult to say which is "worse."  it depends on what you mean by it.  An acl tear can cause buckling of the knee on stairs or during side-to-side action in athletics.  A meniscal tear can cause catching and locking of the knee.  Both can be painful.  Both can predispose the knee to later arthritis.

If you're over 60, a meniscal tear can be a normal part of aging.  On the other hand, some people can use their muscles to compensate for an acl tear.

What we do know it that they are worse in combination.  The instability from the acl tear can cause more damage to the torn meniscus and accelerate wear in the knee.

Acl reconstruction usually has a prolonged recovery period with intense physical therapy to prevent a stiff knee.  Meniscal tear surgery usually has a less intense recovery period.  Most adults have to have the loose, torn portions removed.  The recovery afterwards is based on pain and swelling.  However, in young athletes, who can have meniscal repairs, the recovery may be similar to acl reconstruction.

Uncertain: If you are experiencing these symptoms from recent injury, old injury, post operative repair, or non-surgical physical therapy.   Acute acl injuries in your age group are usually treated surgically while the thinking regarding meniscus repair is in flux between surgical and non surgical.  Older or post operative symptoms may require different approaches.  Call an orthopedic surgeon.

Knee injuries: If the knee injury is recent (within 2 weeks), the ankle swelling is likely the result of the injury to the lower extremity itself. This is especially true if you are not elevating the extremity regularly. Gravity will pull the fluid into the foot/ankle over time. 2-3 weeks after injury, the swelling should start to improve, but may take longer of you remain on your feet most of the day

in my mri scan report it shows complex grade 3 posterior horn medial meniscus tear and high grade acl tear.but there is no locking and poping sound and there is no pain while doing any activity like climb stairs,walking,running,is surgery require?

: This is a judgement call, as depends upon knee stability and likelihood of progressive healing associated with conservative therapy.  The big issue is the potential development of "wear and tear arthritic degeneration" (chondromalacia).  At your age, 21 yrs, you have potential for worsening over the  years.  Obtain at least 2 orthopedic surgical consultations and decide.

Yes.: A good history and exam can tell whether you need further imaging. Sometimes a good exam cannot be performed on a very painful knee.

i had surgery june 17th, 2019 for a torn acl and torn meniscus.  my acl was repaired by allograft and the meniscus was trimmed out.  my flexion is 50 at 3 weeks post op.  do i push harder through the stiffness or let it happen eventually?

Work with PT: Figure at least 6-8 weeks of ongoing physical therapy and then transition to a gym and trainer.

ACL and meniscus: Costs vary with type of anesthesia, location of procedure, implants or products used, sometimes with time in or and recovery, meds needed, pt duration, any imaging, bracing, dressings, crutches. Ask your orthopedic surgeon for their fees, but remember the cost of pt and bracing will increase the bottom line.

Accepted Answer

None: There are no braces that can substitute for the functions of an acl. Bracing technology has advanced greatly, but most of the rotation stability needed is not possible with external braces. Most braces provide stability in side to side instability helping mcls and lcl (limited). Pcls are also partially protected with bracing. Meniscus tears are also not protected.
