i suffer from acid reflux/gerd, however it is happening now on a weekly basis, along with weight loss and tooth decay due to acid, as well as black tongue and dark stools. interferes with sleep. have been for 2 scopes in 2 years. why is it worse?

: Can only guess. Maybe insufficient PPI (Protonix, Prevacid, Aciphex, etc, etc), maybe Barrett’s esophagus (pre-malignant), maybe esophageal ulcer, maybe. maybe, maybe. Need to see gastroenterologist and (probably) have repeat EGD.

GERD: Gerd=acid reflux brings stomach acids up to the mouth, where the acids can erode enamel. The enamel is protecting teeth from the wear, tear and also guards teeth against the erosion.
I suspect that you have a tooth problem that needs to be addressed.

Interesting: Phytic acid is both an anti-nutrient in that it binds dietary sources of iron very efficiently as well as zinc, calcium and magnesium. It is also considered an anti-oxidant since it binds free radical iron so it is a complex nutrient to fully understand. I don&#x27;t think it can lower oral pH enough to directly affect tooth decay as many other acids do but it does affect calcium metabolism.

Greens are great. : Green juices are phenomenal at alkalizing your ph. A little lemon juice in your water will also alkalize you through the krebs cycle. Oral bacteria can be reduced through frequent flossing, brushing and tongue scraping. Coconut oil pulling is also beneficial.

Yes: Yes, it is the posterior side of the front teeth especially that are affected by acid.  Typically it is from bulimia.  Just having acid reflux, shouldn't have acid getting all the way up to your mouth and teeth.

The use of flourides containing products can improve the mineral structure of your teeth thereby decreasing breakdown of teeth via acid dissolution.

Sorry: Your question was cut off.  If you were taking antibiotics they could cause GI distress.  Call the Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon who treated you.  Report your symptoms.  Then follow the directions given.

Yes, but: You need to see your md to try to control your reflux.  And ask your dentist about mi paste or renew with novamin which can be worn inside your trays to help remineralize the enamel.   Also, frequently rinse your mouth with 1 teaspoon baking soda in small glass of lukewarm water to neutralize the acid.

can xanax (alprazolam) erode teeth or make my acid reflux worst? i suffer from acid reflux, especially at bedtime.what can i do about protecting my teeth?

Possible: Anything you put into your mouth can have an effect on your teeth. Especially medication.  Acid reflux definitely affects your teeth and you should see your doctor for medication.  You can also take Fluoride treatment and other treatments but you need to go to the dentist to be evaluated.
