i feel a bony area in the inner back right of my mouth im wondering what this can be my left side doesn't have it could this just be bone growth?

Mandibular torus?: This could be what we call a mandibular torus, which is merely some excess bone and benign. This can be asymmetric and why you only have it on one side. However, without actually seeing you, we can't be sure, so please have your dentist take a look at it just to be on the safe side.

Many possibilites: A bony overgrowth can develop due to a tumor or at the site of a prior trauma. Have it evaluated and treated.

One time event ?: If you did this one time only -- no chance of a problem.  If it is a frequently recurring habit, then you might have a problem over time. Most likely you will not alter your facial bones as such, but rather your alveolar processes supporting your teeth resulting in tooth movement which will change your facial appearance. See the Orthodontist for help if this is a habit. Good Luck.

From : From your description, it sounds like it could be an "exostosis", a bony outgrowth.

You should see an oral surgeon to determine if that is what it is. A differential diagnosis cannot be given over the internet, sight onseen.

Doxycycline/kids: The slow down of bone growth has a totally never been noted to happen in humans - only in lab sheep and a couple other animals. But because it happened in a few baby animals, FDA mandated a warning be put on for humans. Most rapid bone growth occurs in childhood, but since is growth during teen years, it theoretically could happen to teens. Since never noted in humans, hard to really say in teens.

i had a tooth extracted and bone inmplanted in my lower left jaw 4 weeks ago.  my chin and lip on that side are still numb. is it unusual to still be numb?

Have : Have you spoken to the surgeon who did the extraction and the bone graft?

No*: With any surgical procedure there is some level of discomfort.  Your mouth will be, or should be numb when the procedure is performed.  Whether or not you have pain may depend upon your level of anxiety. pain threshold, size and location of the bone to be removed, as well as type of anesthesia/sedation provided.  The cost can vary depending on where and who performs the surgery and any sedation.
