: Please discuss stool and liver function testing with your Pediatrician.A CF screening test is recommended. Infections may also cause blood and mucus in the stool. The loss of weight is concerned since babies should gain weight each day. Ensure that the baby is feeding every 3 to 4 hours.
Watch for signs of fever and vomiting.

5. Learn infant massage
6. Breathe.

Supplements: No, if your baby is exclusively breast fed then add a daily multivitamin.  Otherwise, your child needs none.

Accepted Answer

Feedings: No more than 4 oz (60ml) per feeding.  If breast milk, then no sooner than 2 hours from the last feeding.  If formula, then no sooner than 2 1/2 hours from the last feeding.  If a large amount of the feeding is spit up on a regular basis, then reduce the amounts fed and feed more frequently. Most 6 week old infants eat about 2-4 ounces a feeding.

Unless : Unless your child is a preemie, has growth problems or has a metabolic disorder, it is perfectly fine to start spacing her feedings to a more manageable schedule.  Let her eat as much as she can without spitting and see how long she'll go before she insists on her next feeding.  Many babies will start to automatically eat more and go longer between feedings between 4 to 8 weeks.  Good luck!

Reflux: This is a very common pattern labeled gastroesophageal reflux. The entrance to the stomach is a fold of tissue,not a flap or true valve. It allows food to go both ways. The stomach is a muscular organ that contracts &amp; molds the food preparing it for digestion. The tendency to reflux gradually increases as baby gets stronger, peaking at 4 mo &amp; declining when they sit/stand.
