Be patient :): Nothing guaranteed, but walking will help bring the baby down and might make contractions stronger. Sex is a tried and true way for many women due to prostaglandins in the semen than can induce labor. You can ask your obgyn to strip the membranes at your next visit.    But the best advice is to stay patient and enjoy the last few days to week of growing that little miracle in your belly!   i.

Very possibly: Labor requires a change in your cervix, which we can only tell with an exam. The likelihood of labor gets higher with more regular, longer, and harder contractions, but women can have contractions every 2-3 mintues without being in labor. You need an exam to see if your bag of waters is broken and see if your cervix is changing. Do that soon (like now).

Nipple Stimulation: Other than medical intervention, nipple stimulation can induce labor. But it takes a lot of it, and carries an increased risk of fetal death.

im 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant. pregnancy doesnt have complications at all. what are the dangers of inducing baby at 39 weeks rather than 40?

im mentally and physically tired plus id like to spend more time with baby before going back to work.

: Talk to your OB MD about this issue as elective induction of pregnancy does have complications that are not attendant to natural labor. The prenatal dates may be off resulting in a premature baby. The induction can fail after repeated stimulation and fetal distress can occur from a placental or umbilical cord issue among many other factors.

Yes: Bloody show is a good sign that your cervix is softening and opening, but we cannot narrow it down to "a couple of days". Unfortunately, there's no way to predict how much longer it will be. But you are going in the right direction!

Got your way: So dr is ok w/induction, now what? In long run, will not harm baby, if that is who you are referring to. Labor pain often somewhat more pronounced w/induction due to medication expedited process. Epidural addresses this quite effectively and has no significant impact on baby.

im 39 weeks & 2 days pregnant. at my appointment yesterday, i was told i was 2cm dilated, and 80% effaced. i lost my plug hours later with alot of pre?

2 cm dilated, lost: IS this the fist offspring ?, you lost the plug, next comes the baby, do you have contractions??   
You should be in hospital today, have a new pelvic examination. Go back to the Dr. who did the examination, something does not make sense,
I think the ER is the best. .

SIJ belt: In some women pregnancy stresses the sacroiliac joint(s) (sij) leading to these types of symptoms, due to an hormone "relaxin" released, causing ligament softening to prepare pelvis birth canal for birthing.  Can be painful like sciatica.  A sij belt (boa.Com) can be helpful (after the work and published peer reviewed studies of andry vlemming). See your obstetrician.
