A member asked:

Im 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant. pregnancy doesnt have complications at all. what are the dangers of inducing baby at 39 weeks rather than 40? im mentally and physically tired plus id like to spend more time with baby before going back to work.

Talk to your OB MD about this issue as elective induction of pregnancy does have complications that are not attendant to natural labor. The prenatal dates may be off resulting in a premature baby. The induction can fail after repeated stimulation and fetal distress can occur from a placental or umbilical cord issue among many other factors.
