Important: You should do the following - consult with an endocrinologist to use a weight neutral medication for diabetes such as metformin, sitagliptin, Victoza (liraglutide) or similar, canagliflozin or similar. These will reduce weight and improve diabetes. Also start a medicine like lisinopril or losartan to reduce protein in urine, consult with a nephrologist/ kidney doctor.

: What you need is a urinary albumin/creatinine ratio.  If high then find out cause and work on that. Most likely cause, if not dehydrated, I’d high blood pressure.  Usually from eating too much salt. Read about DASH diet.

Sounds like you: had a urine test for infection? Results look like you may have a mild UTI, though some of the numbers do not match up with the test acronym.  Make sure you drink plenty of water and take antibiotics given with food.  If you have pain on urination, the healthcare provider can give you some medicine to numb that area up for a couple of days.

Urinary infection: It appears that you had bladder infection which caused  transitory blood and protein. Probably you had white cells  as well as leukocyte ester axe positive in urine . If you have diabetes and no protein then micro albumin should be checked periodically. If you are feeling well, folllow up urine is normal, no further work up at this time.

Diabetic nephropathy: We need height in order to determine if weight is appropriate (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm). Your HbA1c, which indicates sugar control over last 3mo, is excellent. Protein in urine is worrisome. Ask for urine microalbumin:Creatinine ratio test to determine extent of damage if any (normal less than 30). Calculate eGFR from blood creatinine - should be 60+.

Poss. renal disease: First suggest you rule out orthostatic proteinuria. Benign proteinuria from being erect. Set alarm for 2 hours after bed, empty bladder, then collect first am specimen. Home free if recumbent specimen negative. Strenuous excercise, stress & dehdration benign. Otherwise need to rule out renal diseases e.G glomerulonephritis, collagen diseases, drugs, infections, diabetes, sickle cell & rare others.

Diabetes: Sounds like you are diabete type 2. Protein 1+ in urine????? Does not have to be diabetic nephropathy! R/o postural or orthostatic proteinuria first. All numbers ( HbA1C, LFTs etc) will improve with weight loss and exercise.

: Since your creatinine is normal, your eGFR should be OK. However, if this was a clean catch urine specimen, the findings of 3+ proteinuria &amp; rbcs indicates potentially serious glomerular kidney disease. A nephrologist should be consulted. Appropriate testing will be ordered&amp;includes a.microscopic examination of the urine sediment, A 24 hour measurement of total protein, urine immunofixation
