Not at all : That is not a symptom of pregnancy. Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

See your doc: With pain and redness it is important to make sure there is no infection... See if you can have your doc look at it...

Maybe!: This could be a contact allergy, a folliculitis (infection around hair follicles), or puppp. Puppp is a pregnancy related condition where itchy red bumps start in the stretch marks. They can join to form larger itchy plaques. Puppp usually occurs around 35 weeks but can start earlier. Treatment is usually aimed at the symptoms. None of those conditions are dangerous.

i am 16 weeks pregnant and been using a&d ointment on my itchy belly for the past month.  is this safe? will this harm the baby?

Barrier ointment: No. There is no trouble using this ointment in pregnancy.

Skin stretching: Your elastic layer of the skin is stretching "to the hilt" to accommodate the rising pregnant abdomen. Once the elastic layer "breaks" you will see stretch marks. Most patients use a lotion or Mother's Friend type product to prevent the itching and stretch marks.

i am 35 weeks pregnant and have horribly itchy stretch marks and a slight rash on my belly. will a frozen washcloth on my belly hurt my baby?

Pregnancy Rash: Stretch marks can become very sensitive at the end of pregnancy and any superficial palliative measures such as creams or compresses will not hurt your baby.  The rash may be separate as PUPPS tends to present at this time.  Given you are 35 weeks you should now be having weekly appointments with your Obstetrician.  Show him/her the rash and ask their opinion and advice.

i am almost 37 weeks pregnant and i have a rash on my belly and is extremely itchy. what could it be? 37 weeks pregnant g4p2, otherwise healthy

It : It is very importnant that you have this rash assessed by your doctor as soon as possible. The rash could be benign and a result of creams you may have used.
 It can also be  pupp - pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (puppp) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. This typically presents in the 3 trimester of pregnancy and may look like blisters or hives on the skin. Your doctor will want to see you to assess the rash and recommend a treatment regimen.
Worst case scenario is that intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, a rare liver problem where bile salts that normally flow to the bile duct accumulate in the skin causing skin to be irritated and itchy. This condition requires emergent medical condition because it can cause your baby to be distressed.  See your doctor asap.

Moisturize: Itching near the end of pregnancy is very common.  As your skin stretches to accommodate your little one you get stretch marks and itching.  Moisturizing frequently can help with the itchiness.  Cocoa Butter and baby oil were my personal favorites.  The good news is you're almost there!  Congratulations!

what causes dry skin on belly, arms, legs during early pregnancy?  i'm 9w2d and skin is flaky. never had this before. areolas are a little itchy?

Accepted Answer

Hormone changes: Hormone changes are most likely but if you are not drinking as much (possibly due to nausea or sickness) and are dehydrated, that would also contribute. Use a good moisturizer.
