You want to loose about 33lbs which is a net caloric deficit of 115, 500 (33lbs x 3500cal/lb).  To determine how long, one also needs to know your current wt.  Another rule of thumb--maintenance of body weight is about 100 cal/ lb. A safe goal is 1-2 lbs/ wk.

Not necessarily.: It can depend on where you cut the 1400cals from, a 6000cal or a 3000cal diet as long as you have no cardiac or other problems, you should be fine. Keep up the good work! Be sure to keep well hydrated. The only people I would worry about are those who are loosing weight, unintentionally.

Here is the formula.: Walking for one mile can burn about 70-80 calories. So you will need to walk about 2-3 miles daily, for 5 days of each week to lose one pound of weight in 3-4 weeks time. This is a comfortable way of doing it. If you run or jog, you can burn more fat depending on  the speed and duration of exercise. But you have to work hard to lose a pound of fat from yr body. But it can be done with persistence!
