In brief: Lots of options
First, let's be clear. We don't treat just b/c t is low.
Patient also has to have constellation of symptoms, eg andropause or hypogonadism. Once established that treatment is indicated, options include patch (skin vs gum), cream/gel/lotion, pellet implant & injections. However, all these options are various forms of t and will shut down sperm production. If you want to father children, avoid this.

And in the 5th decade and onward, prostate cancer needs to be checked and ruled out before providing it with T, a substantial growth factor.

In brief: Many ways
First i assess for factors indirectly affecting testosterone levels/function, such as adrenal insufficiency, zinc deficiency, and high estrogen in the body due to being overweight/toxins/excessive soy intake.
Once these have been addressed, if testosterone is still needed, best options are injections or pellets. Hcg is an option as well. If mild, can try dhea first ~25mg daily.
