Red gums
Gums should typically be coral pink. This can vary with race and pigment distribution. If gums are red this is a tell tale sign of inflammation. Inflammation causes the gums to bleed. Bleeding gums are called gingivitis. Gingivitis is a precursor to periodontal disease. Studies also show that there is a correlation between periodontal disease and heart disease.
