Poor prenatal growth
Prenatal growth failure is a condition in which a fetus grows too slowly while still in the mother. At birth, a baby who had prenatal growth failure can be much smaller than normal. Causes for growth failure while still inside the mother include birth defects, hormonal problems, infections, placental problems, etc...
