PEG tube insertion
Peg or percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy allows access to the stomach for tube feedings. It is done in the endoscopy suite, under IV sedation. The endoscope is directed into the stomach and theend of the endoscope is used to push the stomach against the abdominal wall. A needle attached to a wire is then inserted under direct vision and the wire is used to guide feeding tube into the stomach.
