Seven days after : It is fully effective 7days after insertion on the first day of your regular cycle.But if it is placed another time of your cycle it is effective after on full cycle (3weeks on1week off) it is only for first time users if it is being replaced than you do not have to wait.

It depends...: One can have sex at anytime, but in order to get protection from pregnancy, follow the instructions on the NuvaRing website. If NuvaRing is inserted on the first day of the menstrual cycle (first day of bleeding), protection starts right away. If inserted at any other time during the cycle, protection may not be effective for the first 7 days after inserting the NuvaRing (so add a condom, etc...).
