PCL reconstruction
Posterior cruciate ligament (pcl) reconstruction is surgery to replace (not repair) the ligament that keeps the leg from translating backwards behind the thighbone. This is typically done when the patient is functional unstable on the leg due to a tear of the pcl. The ligament is replaced by a tendon graft either taken from the patient themselves or one prepared by a tissue bank from a cadaver.
