Nerves and vessels: The PCL rests outside of the knee joint and right next to the nerves and blood vessels that supply much of your leg, ankle, and foot. Any PCL reconstruction done poorly puts your blood vessels and nerves at risk. It is better to have experts perform PCL reconstructions because they will tend to do more of them. In general, PCL tears are associated with bigger injuries, which carries higher risks.
