Less than 100% torn: The PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) prevents the tibia (shin bone) from sliding backwards under your femur (thigh bone). A partial tear means that some, but not all, of the fibers of the tendon are torn, so there is a lesser degree of instability than if it is 100% torn. Generally an isolated partial injury like this can be treated nonoperatively with physical therapy.
