Silver fillings in teeth
A dental amalgam commonly referred to as a "silver filling" is a metal alloy comprised of silver, copper and tin, in addition to mercury, which binds these components into a hard, stable substance and used on back teeth to replace lost tooth structure from decay. Over the years it has been generally replaced with tooth colored bonded composite fillings.
