Yes: Silver, or just about any other kind of filling, can be removed. Of course you should see a licensed dentist to have this done. There are a few alternatives to silver amalgam fillings, and i'm sure your dentist will be happy to discuss your options with you.

Yes: Silver (amalgam) fillings are removed all the time. They don't last forever and some need replacement if there is a recurrent cavity under them or they fracture. Other people ask to have them removed simply because they do not like the dark appearance they give the tooth. Ask your dentist what is involved and what other materials are available if you are considering replacement.

Yes: They can be removed. When there is leakage at the edges and/or breakdown and /or decay, we remove them and replace them. Most often anymore, we use tooth colored material.
