After the extraction of a tooth, what is the side effects of silver fillings, if left in the gum for more than a year. ?

None, only a tattoo: There is no side effect if some amalgam becomes imbedded under the gums. Clinically it is considered to be an "amalgam tattoo". I have seen this many times during my 39 years of practice and have never seen any reaction to the amalgam.
