Hypertensive retinopathy is frequently diagnosed in those with elevated blood pressure for a prolonged period of time based upon changes in the vessels in the retina. It also is a pathology of very high blood pressure in which retinal vessels leak fluid leading to radiating patterns of yellow in the retina.
