A member asked:

Dx with moderate hypertensive retinopathy but do not suffer high blood pressure. went to ophthalmologist due to flashes of light. wrong diagnosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HTN & the eyes.: High blood pressure causes distinctive findings on the retina, so distinctive that eye doctors can tell if someone has hypertension just by looking at their retinae. Can other things cause those findings? Sure, I suppose, but you listed hypertension as one of your conditions so for you that would be the prime candidate for those findings.
