Not always, but: Using this medicine requires regular surveillance by an eye doctor to monitor for maculopathy which can cause loss of vision. Visual field tests, autofluorescent imaging, high-resolution optical coherence tomography, multifocal electroretinopgraphy are helpful ancillary tests they may perform.
