Vitamin A & implants: Daily intake of 15000 IU (equivalent to 4.5 mg) of vitamin A palmitate has found to slow the progression of retinitis pigmentosa, and can postpone blindness by up to 10 years. The Argus retinal prosthesis is an electronic retinal implant designed to improve the vision of those with severe cases of retinitis pigmentosa. It looks like the visor wore by a blind StarTrek character.
