What to do if I have pericoronitis and i'm going to the dentist tomorrow. Ijust going to clean it?

I'm taking amoxicillin 500 mg, 3 times per day to treat pericoronitis. I've been taking it for 48 hours with minor to no improvement. Is this normal?
