A member asked:

Is there a way of treating a tooth infection without seeing a dentist? it is pericoronitis, i am not sure if this extraction is possible in the dentist office as a fold of skin is enclosing the tooth.

Infection: You may need antibiotics. Sometimes the gum flap can be removed by an oral surgeon. Is this a wisdom tooth? I do suggest that you see the dentist.

Self diagnosis: Self diagnosis is always risky. Your pain could be due to infection, partial impaction, damage to adjacent tooth, cyst, bone lessor so many other possibilities, all of which require the attention of a professional for resolution. See a Dentist for safe, immediate, appropriate treatment. Don't risk harming yourself.

Tooth Infection: The reason that antibiotics require a prescription is so that people don't self medicate and diagnose themselves for care. You cannot treat dental issues on your own. See a local dentist for care.
