Depends: If treated, chlamydia can be cured. Sexually active women under 25 should be tested. Untreated, about 40% of women with untreated chlamydia will develop pelvic inflammatory disease (pid). Pid infects the cells of the cervix, spreads to the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries causing infertility.

Don't know: Chlamydia if left untreated for a period of time can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (pid). Everybody is different in terms of sensitivity to the infection. Tubal damage can occur leading to infertility.

Chlamydia Testing: Prevention and annual gc/chlamydia screening are important consideration for any sexually active woman wanting to preserve fertility. The majority of women i see with blocked fallopian tubes never were aware that they had a prior infection as evidenced by blood testing for antibodies.
