Very Likely: They are different, but very similar diseases. Your chances are very high, especially if the lesion has opened and appear moist.

Herpes: If you kiss someone with an active case of oral herpes you can become infected. It's also possible to get an oral case of genital herpes from having oral sex with someone who has an active case of genital herpes.

Herpes: Hsv-1 ususally associated with oral herpes, hsv-2 usually associated with genital herpes. People with cold sores may be at higher risk of transmitting herpes to their partners than people with genital infections, although they probably neither realize it. Kissing someone with oral herpes however should not relocate the genital strain to your mouth unless their mouth contacts the genital strain.
