A member asked:

A cold sore is a single bump on your lip and a herpes blister are two totally different things right? can a herpes 1 test tell the difference?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not different and No: A regular cold sore on the lip is a regular herpes blister or herpes outbreak. They are the same thing. They are quite common in the world's population, and are usually caused by herpes type 1 virus (testing a cold sore for herpes type 1 is not necessary).
